Kansas City Style Barbecue Sauce

KC BBQ Sauce

This is a classic Kansas City barbecue sauce.  My favorite!  It’s thick and tangy, with a slight bit of heat.  Make sure you simmer it for at least half an hour.  That will keep it from being gritty.  The amount of pepper and cayenne pepper sounds like too much, but it’s just the right amount.  This is sooo good, I can’t keep from eating it while it’s cooking!

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon cumin

1 teaspoon curry powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

2 cups ketchup

3/4 cup molasses

1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

1.  Combine all ingredients in medium saucepan.

2.  Slowly bring to boil and simmer for at least 30 minutes.

3.  Cool.  Store in refrigerator in an airtight container.
